Volunteer Love: Dog & Cat Crews

We love our crews!

Volunteers are the heart of our organization here at RAL and we couldn’t fulfill our mission without their hard work and dedication. Twice a day, every day, teams of volunteers show up to our shelter to care for the cats and dogs staying here. These 200+ weekly crew members treat each of our pets as their own; making sure their needs are met and they are getting the exercise and socialization they need.

Our cat crews clean litter boxes, and wash bedding, kennels, dishes and floors. They also feed, medicate and snuggle our feline friends. Our dog crews feed the dogs, clean bedding, kennels and dishes and then get the dogs outside for some quality time, whether it is a nice walk or playtime in the backyard.

Crew members generally work as part of a regular team of like-minded animal lovers, so new human friendships are often formed as a bonus to the satisfaction our volunteers feel in helping animals and their community.

It’s hard and can be messy work, but volunteering on an animal crew at RAL can be a very rewarding experience for dog and cat lovers and we can always use more hands. Submit a volunteer application to learn more about volunteering with us!
