March Foster Spotlight - Raven Jarvis

Hey there! I’m Raven Jarvis, and I’ve been a proud doggy foster mom for about 4 years now. If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I have a serious soft spot for the old-timers. I’m talking about the grumpy, chunky, nap-loving seniors who know what they want and aren’t afraid to ask for it (usually snacks). While my heart belongs to seniors who think napping is an Olympic sport, I’ve had the pleasure of fostering pups of all ages—from puppies to adults.

So far, I’ve fostered seven incredible dogs: Jack Daniels, Queenie, Beyoncé, Charlie (Butterball), Buddy, Mae, and Booberry. Each one brought their own quirks to the mix, and let me tell you, the Doggy Adventure House has seen it all!

One of my most memorable moments was with Booberry and another pup I was sitting. They managed to get drenched in mud right after the snow melted—during a boil water advisory, no less! (Pro tip: don’t try to clean two muddy dogs when you’re rationing clean water—it’s a workout and a comedy show in one.)

If I had to name a favorite (don’t tell the others), it’s Buddy. That sweet old man stole my heart with his chunky face, mellow vibe, and uncanny ability to make everyone smile. He reminded me so much of my Ollie, my first pup and adventure sidekick, who passed last June. Buddy and I shared naps, snacks, and plenty of cuddles, and he’ll always be my baby. But honestly, every dog I’ve fostered has been special in their own way, whether they’re a spunky pup or a senior snoozer.

Fostering has been so fun because every dog brings something new—whether it’s a belly laugh, a quiet moment, or just watching them discover what love really feels like.

About Me:
When I’m not chasing muddy dogs or handing out treats, I’m running Doggy Adventures LLC, a business that blends my love of dogs, adventure, and community. My mission is to create enriching, outdoor-focused experiences for dogs and their humans while fostering connections in the Richmond pet community. Fostering has added even more joy to my life, letting me mix my pack of adventure pups with dogs in need of a little extra love.I mean, what’s better than a house full of wagging tails and happy hearts?
