Classification: Full-Time – Non-Exempt
Starting Salary: $17 - $19 per hour
Reports to: Human Resources Business Partner

As the first point of contact for many, the Reception and Administrative Coordinator is vital in directing people to the help they need and shaping the public’s impression of RAL.
This position creates a welcoming and professional environment, handles incoming and outgoing calls, takes messages, and assists staff with phone communication needs.
Additionally, the Reception and Administrative Coordinator provides clerical support to the Shelter Staff, contributing to the seamless operation of our organization.
Essential Functions:
Acts as an ambassador to the organization, greeting visitors with a positive attitude and enthusiasm and managing inquiries with professionalism and courtesy.
Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries via phone, email, or in person; provide clear and accurate information.
Address concerns and escalate issues to the appropriate personnel or manager when necessary.
Provide general administrative support.
Serves as a team member by providing prompt, respectful, and knowledgeable service to customers, volunteers, and the public. Treats the public with empathy and patience.
Order and maintain shelter supplies.
Maintain RAL merchandise store.
Assist in recruiting and engagement of volunteers in the front area of the shelter.
Helps train front office volunteers. Assists and oversees volunteers’ work in the front area.
As needed and time allows, this position will help support the adoption team.
Maintain adopter, relinquisher, donor, vendor, and customer confidentiality.

Must competently use Microsoft Office and Google sites, web browsers, and other technology as necessary.
Work Environment: The Shelter can be a high-noise area, and the coordinator will be exposed to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, cats, and dogs. There is also potential for exposure to animal bites and scratches.
Physical Demands: The Reception and Administrative Coordinator must be able to sit or stand for hours at a time; lift at least 40 pounds without help and over 40 pounds with assistance; work at a computer and type; walk; get up and down on the floor; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full-Time, Non-Exempt position. Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. The hours would be 9 am—6 pm.
Travel: There are no travel requirements for this position.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma
1 or more years of Work Experience
Customer Service Experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
2-year associate’s or 4-year bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience in the administrative field
